Steamed Tofu with Soy Sauce is a quick, easy and flavorful dish that pairs perfectly with rice or noodles. A staple in many Asian cuisines, steamed tofu with soy sauce is a light, healthy, and satisfying choice, loved by vegetarians and non-vegetarians alike. Whether served as a main or a side, it’s a quick, nourishing meal that’s sure to please any palate. For a fun and bold twist, you can also use Watcharee’s Thai Basil & Garlic or Spicy Chili Sauce instead of Soy Sauce dressing.
Ingredients
2-3 cloves garlic, minced
1 pack of tofu of your choice (silken or firm)
2-3 fresh scallions, trimmed and finely chopped
3 tbsp soy sauce (we use low sodium)
2 tbsp black vinegar (we use Chiang Ging brand)
1 tbsp sesame oil
A pinch of sugar (optional)
1 tsp sesame seeds
1 tbsp chili oil (optional)

Directions
Prepare the Sauce
In a small bowl, mix garlic, soy sauce, black vinegar, sesame oil, sugar and set aside.
Prepare the Tofu
Flip over the package of tofu and use a scissors to snip off the four corners to drain.
Open the package, flip the container to place tofu on a heat proof plate that you will use to steam the tofu
Use a knife to slice the tofu to about 1.5 cm thick and set aside
Steam the Tofu
To steam the tofu, use a steamer rack and place in a large pot, skillet or a wok. You may also use a bamboo steamer set over a large skillet or a pot or a wok.
Add about 2 inches of water to the pot, skillet or wok.
Cover the lid and bring water to a boil.
Place the tofu plate or bamboo basket in the pan and cover with lid. Steam for 8-10 minutes.
To Serve
Remove tofu plate from the steamer. Drain off the water.
