The air fryer is a true game changer in my kitchen! These wings are a perfect example of how you can achieve a crispy, restaurant-quality result without deep frying, making your favorite dishes lighter yet still flavorful. The outside of these wings turns beautifully crispy, while the inside remains tender and juicy – just the way we love it.
The real magic, however, is in the award-winning Thai Spicy Chili Sauce. Savory and sour with a hint of sweetness and just the right amount of heat, this sauce is the perfect complement for crispy wings.
Prepare the Wings: Pat the chicken wings and drumettes dry with paper towels. Remove any remaining feathers. This step ensures crispy skin when cooking.
Season the Wings: In a large mixing bowl, combine the wings, drumettes, rice flour, baking powder, salt, and white pepper. Use your hands to mix and rub the ingredients into the chicken, ensuring an even coating. The rice flour and baking powder will help crisp the skin during cooking.
Prepare the Air Fryer Basket: Lightly mist the air fryer basket with oil. Arrange the wings and drumettes in a single layer. Be sure not to overcrowd the basket; if necessary, cook in batches to allow the air to circulate properly.
Mist and Flip: Lightly mist the top of the wings with oil. After 10-15 minutes of cooking, flip the wings to ensure even crisping. Mist the other side with oil for an extra crispy finish.
Air Fry the Wings: Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C), if needed. Air fry the wings for 10-15 minutes, depending on their size. Flip the wings halfway through the cooking time and mist again with oil if desired. Continue air frying for another 10-15 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.
Finish and Serve: Once the wings are done, remove them from the air fryer. Drizzle with Watcharee’s Thai Spicy Chili Sauce for a burst of flavor. Garnish with sliced scallions and fresh chili for an extra kick, if desired.
Recipe Note
Enjoy your crispy wings with a cold glass of beer for a perfect solo snack, or serve them alongside a traditional Thai papaya salad and fragrant Thai sticky rice.
