Inspired by a traditional Thai bean sprout stir-fry made with oyster sauce, this is my quick and easy plant-based version using Watcharee’s Thai Basil & Garlic Sauce.

On a busy weeknight, when you crave a light, meatless dinner, this simple dish comes together in just 10 minutes. Fresh, crunchy bean sprouts, tender tofu, scallions, and garlic make a delicious, flavorful stir-fry. Serve with steamed Thai jasmine rice for a satisfying meal!

Ingredients

  • ¼ bottle Watcharee’s Thai Basil & Garlic Sauce (9.8 fl oz)
  • 2 tbsp cooking oil
  • 3–4 garlic cloves, smashed
  • 4 cups fresh bean sprouts, rinsed and drained
  • 3–4 scallions, cut into 2-inch pieces
  • 14 oz firm tofu, drained and cut into bite-sized cubes
  • ¼ cup water or vegetable stock
  • 2–3 fresh or frozen Thai chilies (optional)
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce or a pinch of salt (optional, to taste)
  • A pinch of ground white pepper

For Serving

  • Steamed Thai jasmine rice

Directions

  1. Heat cooking oil in a wok or large skillet over medium-high heat.

  2. Add smashed garlic and chilies. Stir-fry for 30 seconds until fragrant.

  3. Add tofu and stir-fry for 2–3 minutes until lightly golden.

  4. Add bean sprouts and scallions. Stir-fry for 1–2 minutes.

  5. Add ¼ cup water or vegetable stock.

  6. Add Watcharee’s Thai Basil & Garlic Sauce. Season with soy sauce or a pinch of salt (optional) and white pepper. Toss everything together and stir-fry for another 1–2 minutes until heated through but still crunchy.

  7. Serve immediately with steamed Thai jasmine rice. Enjoy!
